Located on the North East coast of The Island, Burford House enjoys views across the Solent, Ryde has miles of golden sands our accomodation in the town is the gateway to the Eastern Isle, with the Fast Ferry Link, Hovercraft and car ferry which comes into Fishbourne, just to the west of Ryde.
Walking only a few yards from Burford House you'll be in Ryde town center where you can catch a bus to the Islands principal towns or take the train through to Brading, Lake, Sandown and Shanklin.
Burford House is located in the second largest town on The Island. The shops are located in The High Street and Union Street and here you will find most of the High Street chains such as Blockbusters and WH Smiths plus, more unique shopping. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants offering a wide variety of types and styles of eating.
Ryde has a small marina located to the east of Ryde Pier. It is tidal and dries out at low water hence it is more suitable for smaller sailing bilge keel and motor cruisers. It has provision for up to 200 boats, either on floating pontoons or leaning against the harbor wall. It has a full time harbormaster who posts useful snippets of information on the noticeboard outside the harbor office including weather information, tide times, cruise liner movements and events that occurred on this day in history.
The Island plays host to the Isle of Wight Music Festival, which is in June and the Bestival during September, Burford House makes an ideal cental location for large parties when visiting for these events. In addition, the Island is famed for top acts playing at Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle as well as the Garlic Festival and County Show.
The Island has long been known as The Garden Isle hosting to places like Ventor Botanical gardens and Osborne House and it is noted for its warm climate, magnificent scenery and friendly welcome.
